Exposed...

Filed in: hiding, opennessi have so many little ways of hiding,
my secret defenses
of which others are unaware.
They take many shapes and forms.
Some recognizable, like a favorite sweater, tatty and worn,
others more insidious and harder to disarm.
i tuck bits and pieces of my life and love and pain behind them
until i find i have built, bit by bit,
an impenetrable fortress of mossy green stones,
a sanctuary for my weaknesses and inadequecies,
a place they can call their own.
Then You come along.
And i find myself stripped bare
my naked desires laid out before You.
No secrets, no dark hidden corners to give shelter to the things in me i most despise.
i am defenseless,
i am vulnerable,
i can no longer hide.
