The Spiritual Aspect of BDSM
Some of you may or may not know, but I recently became one of the official greeters on FetLife.com, which has been quite a wonderful journey as I've greeted such a rich and diverse group of people. And this wonderful special volunteer position that I happily took on has given me such delightful food for thought, as a result.
This past week I stumbled across the interesting profile of a Dom who said he was into Spiritual Domination, and described what he meant by the term.
Well, this concept of Spiritual Domination struck a chord in me. Because it's how best to describe my own journey, from both sides of the equation, as a Switch.
I know that many subs get into BDSM because of the sexual kick - and what they go searching for reflects this of course. Good for them I say - but not the reason why I was drawn into BDSM so very many years ago, and why I enjoy it today. It puts into my mind one of the most horrendous wannabe-subs that tried to get my attention on Collarme. Talk about topping from the bottom, he was truly a classic case. He peppered me with different photo attachments of himself looking "cool" (*snort*) while waving his so-called pretty butt at the camera. And his msgs to me were filled with a long list of DON'Ts - oh I don't do dishes, and I don't clean, and blah blah blah. So basically he told me he would be best used by me through sexual service, through using a strap-on on his cute butt. Yes, he did call himself "cute". *YAWN*. If he only knew what a complete and utter turn-off his pictures were to me. And his msgs telling me just how to dominate him.
Now I can appreciate the physical beauty of many pretty young things, be they boys or girls, who want to submit. Those of legal age and older, that goes without saying. Well I used to be a pretty young thing like that myself once, so I can totally understand their great eagerness to try out this wildly fun and kinky world of BDSM.
But what I find most attractive and what gives me most pleasure, is the service-oriented subs and slaves. Whether I am being served in some small gesture - it could even be simply a very well-written message - or from watching a service-oriented submissive giving quality service to a Dominant.
There is a small incident that I witnessed once one night at Club Sin many months ago that has stuck in my head ever since. Now I have seen all kinds of things go on during Fetish Nights, and yes I do enjoy the floggings, the shibari creations, and other public play. But this little thing that stuck inside my head was the smallest moment of service that 99.9% of anyone in the club would not have even noticed or remarked upon.
So this is what I saw. There was a table filled with Dominants with just one submissive present in their midsts. All men except for one Mistress. And the sub belonged to her. Another male Dominant came up to the table and I watched the male slave (he had to have been a slave), who was an older unassuming-looking man in his 50s or 60s as he made the new Dominant feel welcome. All he did was draw the chair out for the man, with one graceful gesture, but that one small movement was performed with such total focus and intent on service, it was so very nicely done. The male Dom smiled and was obviously pleased as he said a word to the slave. And then the slave then went on his knees before his Mistress who also smiled and must have said some rewarding words to him as well. It was such a small thing. And yet so beautiful. THERE. There was a moment of total Spiritual Domination. I could tell that slave was so dedicated to giving quality service, in honour of his Mistress, that his spirit lived for such moments.
Just beautiful.
Oh yes, that is the kind of quality spirit I would love to find in a submissive.
Yes, it's great to be on the receiving end of whatever pleasures a submissive has to offer. But the most priceless treasure to me is that look of total servitude and adoration and devotion in a submissive's eyes. That they get from doing literally anything at all to please you.
Spiritual Domination is a spiritually elevating experience where a submissive enters a state of incredible bliss. They literally become nothing but pure essence. They are transported somewhere beyond. It's literally feeling a heaven on earth. I know, because I've been on the receiving end of that feeling countless of times. Yes, I have been blessed. And what would give me the greatest pleasure indeed is to gift someone else with that priceless treasure. To take them to the edge and beyond. Pure heaven.
I have to say that there are elements of this Spiritual Domination in the Switch name I chose for myself - Angel.
Yes, there are many little angels who are eager little submissives who like to serve. But there is a Dominant side to the Angel - and this Angel as well. The Angel as Protector and Guardian. Keeping someone safe. Guiding them gently. Watching over them. That has been a part of who I am and have been for years. I have always been drawn into leadership roles, through-out my life. And so very many lost little lambs have made their way to me as well. It's just something inside me that draws them to me. And so, I would be happy to find a trusting little soul, a little hand, to put their trust in me. To guide them and teach them. To bring their thirsting spirit craving to serve, to that special place of body, mind and spirit and beyond.
Amazing how all these thoughts came out of my head from reading the profile of one person on FetLife.com, no?
Well, it made things clearer in my own head. About what I seek.
We shall see just where the spirit finds it's way.
