The Masochist Ode #1
Author: Pantheris
Filed in: pleasure, trust, odeCan I celebrate
at casting away independence
and watch it face as surrender
sets in, until my very life is left
dangling upon the slightest whims
and fancies of your mind?
Pure trust is what shifts me
from caution to abandon
and yes - I know now
why impassioned women pay homage
so gladly, so much
to the point that I
can almost live through
your authority in my days and dreams
and I ask myself
what pleasure can be found
in love-poetry when all that I exist
for lies in the secret
of a single name?
They are not questions
to a man, rather, they become answers
to a state of being, but
really, I never long to see
the day your
displeasure might torment me
through escalations of
sensuality only to fall
again and again
as I reach the bare distance
before the peak overtakes.
To tremble:
in joy at your satiation,
in fear at your wrath.
To say that I live
merely to fulfil even
the most minute of your desires.
To say it is so simple
both undermines and exaggerates
my submission.
But you knew that already,
didn't you?
