Arabesque

Filed in: music, slave, dance, veilshe floats gracefully into his vision,
moving silently, daintily
on her rounded hennaed feet.
soft silken scarves adorn her
revealing only enough
to tantalize, to make him hunger
for a glimpse of more.
oud and drums begin softly
playing a traditional song
the rhythm simple, earthy, primal
listening, she begins to move
letting the music fill her body
in a dance thousands of years old
laughing softly she dances
just out of his reach, swaying
closing her eyes
and surrendering her body
moving sinuously as the drums throb
not noticing the loss of a veil or two
she steps, toes forward,
then rocks back on a heel
hips following seductively
dancing like a thousand others and yet
uniquely, like only she can dance.
hands, arms arcing gracefully
above her head
entwining, snaking together
sliding down her body
as the music enters her soul
becomes her reason for existence
oud and drum quicken
taking her deeper into the spell
as he watches, enthralled,
her hands beckon gracefully
another veil slides
downward to the floor
but she is oblivious
she is the music
ululating
spinning
slowing as the drums and oud fade
hips and hands still calling to him
her body beckoning, promising
close enough to touch
he doesn't move, fearing to lose
the dream that she is to him.
the drum beats once, twice more,
then is silent.
she collapses softly to the floor,
head down
a posture of submission
as she regains her senses,
opening her eyes, and
gazing up at him,
she knows he is hers,
as she is his,
now
and always
